![]() News - Lunch at Ban Yan Yao School, Khaolak
The 29 december 2008, TATSA planned a meeting at Ban Yan Yao school, in
Kaolak followed by a lunch at the school.
Some of the students came to share the lunch ( many thanks to Khun Lek to unearth this nice restaurant) with Lek, Francoise and Andre Salti, Jean and Valentine Thilly ( from Belgium donors) as well as Chantal and Gerard Bertrand , representative of Tatsa Monaco. This gathering allowed everybody to share some good time and to better communicate among ourselves. ![]() English conversation course was organized by Tatsa in April 2008 in KaoLak. Great success, because a lot of children have asked to have more classes this coming year. This allowed the children to improve a lot their skills in english. News - 4th Bain de Noel at Monaco

News - Computers donated by Cannes Music School
Through the auspices of TATSA the Cannes Municipal Music & Drama Conservatoire (France) recently made a donation of two computers, valued at 50,000baht, to Takuapa Senanukul School. A presentation ceremony was held at the school during which Françoise Salti handed over the computers to the school's principal, K.Sathit Triburoot. The ceremony participants were then entertained by the school's Thai classic dance group and brass band. Takuapa Senanukul, being a school having a lot of students from the Tsunami devastated Khao Lak area, lost many students in the disaster besides now having a number of orphaned students. TATSA supports 9 students and K.Trin and Françoise regularly visit to meet with the students and teachers. Takuapa Senanukul School has been picked as the best school in Takuapa district. The Conservatoire promotes the awakening and introduction to music to children as young as three years old. With 62 teachers and nearly 1,000 students the school teaches all manner of instruments and musical styles from classical to jazz. As a special mark of recognition for the donation of the computers, a plaque was presented to TATSA noting the school's and the national education authority's appreciation to TATSA for facilitating the donation. News - Mother Day Surprise
In Thailand, coinciding with the Queen's birthday on 12th August, children give small gifts of appreciation to their mothers.TATSA co-founder, Trin, was very pleasantly surprised to receive several Mother gifts from TATSA students. This surely shows that these children regard TATSA as an organisation giving them some love and attention, especially where they had lost their own mothers in the Tsunami.
News - TATSA Student painting sold at Cambridge exhibition
K.Trin was surprised when visiting Takuapa Senanukul School a few months ago when one of the TATSA supported students presented her with a painting. The painting is of some flowers blooming. On reflection it suggests new life after the tsunami, which brought so much salt water on to the land, killed so much vegetation.Ted Coney, who has been Head of Art at Hills Rd Sixth Form College in Cambridge, England, for many years was about to retire. His former college deputy principal, Margaret Ingram, a TATSA supporter, told Ted about TATSA and he decided to donate proceeds from the College's Annual Fashion Show and from his valedictory lecture and exhibition to TATSA. Ted writes " Lots of students got involved in the Fashion Show. Clothes were made out of every conceivable material including plastics, cloth, metal, string and paper!" The painting of the flowers blooming after the devastation was sent to Hills Road 6th Form College and it was hung in the exhibition, a real reminder of the tragedy but a symbol of life being renewed. The painting was offered for sale to raise funds for TATSA and it was sold for £100/- to the former Principal of the College, Colin Greenhalgh. The painting will probably be hung in Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. All those attending the exhibition were very moved by the story behind the painting and gave money to TATSA in a retiring collection. Thank you Margaret and Ted! |
